Lincoln Southwest’s Tyler Boyle still running despite cancelled track season
The future South Dakota trackster staying positive despite coronavirus pandemic.

LINCOLN – Tyler Boyle had lofty goals for the spring.
The Lincoln Southwest senior track star was hoping to defending his Class A state championship in the 3,200 meters this May. Oh, and add to his medal count.
“I really was chasing after the 1,600 too,” Boyle said “I really wanted that title as well.”
Boyle was also leading the charge for the Silver Hawks as a team. Southwest had finished third, second and third, respectively, each of the past three seasons. Boyle was hoping to help his squad take home a team championship this year as well.
“I really wanted to win a track team title and double up in team titles in cross country and track,” Boyle said. “So that would have been really cool.”
But now, the future South Dakota trackster, will continue to do what he does best, despite everything going on around him.
“I’ve always loved running since I was a really little kid,” Boyle said. “So running is kind of like my escape in this. I think a lot of people can get overwhelmed by the coronavirus.
“For me, running and working hard and pushing my limits, is kind of my way of letting all that stress out. I just keep telling myself that this will pay off at some point. It may not pay off this track season like I wanted it to be, but it will pay off at some point. ”
