Lincoln students learn life, career skills at LPS’s Independence Academy

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Public Schools is offering life skills education for young adults with disabilities at its Independence Academy.

On Thursday, the district showcased its students, who learned about cooking for family and friends.

The program – which is held at the Independent Living Center in west Lincoln – provides life, social, vocational and career experiences for its students.

Last fall, the Independent Living Center was renovated to make it more accessible to students with various needs, LPS said.
