LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Lincoln teen is facing two felony charges in connection to the fatal shooting of his roommate.

Prosecutors filed a criminal complaint against 19-year-old Zachariah Serna for second-degree assault and manslaughter.

Police say Serna shot and killed 20-year-old Gavin Hall on July at their home near 40th and Van Dorn St.

Police Chief Jeff Bliemeister said Hall and Serna had been “bantering” when Serna got a shotgun from another room and fired it one time, striking Hall in the head.

Serna is scheduled to appear in court Thursday afternoon.

If convicted, Serna faces up to 20 years in prison for each charge.
