Lincoln to honor vets with walk, ceremony on Veterans Day

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A ceremony and walk for veterans in Lincoln are being arranged to celebrate Veterans Day next week.

At 9:30 a.m. Friday, the 24th annual Veterans Walk of Recognition will start at Memorial Stadium and finish at the Veterans Memorial Garden in Antelope Park.

After the walk, a ceremony will be held at Antelope Park’s Auld Pavilion at 11 a.m.

An invocation and benediction will be provided by Chaplain Deb Badeer, with Lt. Gen. Roger Lempke and former city communications manager Diane Gonzolas speaking at the ceremony.

Flags will be placed in the Veterans Memorial Garden, which will be open from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Veterans Day.
