Lincolnites gather at McKinney’s Irish Pub to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincolnites piled into McKinney’s Irish Pub early Friday morning to begin St. Patrick’s Day festivities.

The pub, located in the Haymarket, is holding its 10th annual Saint Patrick’s Day Celebration, which started Friday at 9 a.m.

Patrons of the bar can grab a green beer and listen to live music, or even compete in a Lucky Charms eating contest.

And the party doesn’t stop on Friday, as the celebration will continue until Saturday night.

“The owner of McKinney’s is 100% Irish, so this is his roots, and he has a lot of pride in McKinney’s as well as celebrating Saint Patty’s Day, cause that’s a major holiday for him, and he wanted to bring that to Lincoln as well,” Shelby Herman, a general manager at the bar, said.

The annual celebration is expected to bring in over 3,000 people, giving the business a boost before the summer.
