Lincoln’s hotly anticipated food truck zone opens with a celebration

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln celebrated the grand opening of its first food truck zone on Tuesday.

Channel 8 has been covering this project for years now, as crews have been transforming the area beneath Rosa Parks Way at Seventh and K streets.

Muchachos, Birria Boss, MotorFood, Kona Ice and more showed up Tuesday.

There was also basketball, skating and parkour so people could work off the calories.

The food truck zone is part of the Haymarket South Streetscape Plan, which was announced back in 2019.

It features new sidewalks and pedestrian crossings to make the area more walkable.

You can expect food trucks to be at the zone during special events.
