10 days with no deaths, more than 106K vaccines administered

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln’s Mayor, along with local health department officials, provides an update to our community’s vaccination progress at 3:30 p.m. We’ll be streaming it live right here on klkntv.com.

Hy-Vee, now a part of the Federal Pharmacy Program, will now be vaccinating Pre-K through 12th-grade staffers, residents 65 and older, and healthcare workers.

Yesterday, Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department (LLCHD) held the largest mass vaccination clinic in the county, administering more than 8,000 doses at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Two more mass vaccination clinics will be held this week. On Thursday, Speedway Village will be hosting a clinic for eligible residents ages 73 and older to receive their second dose of the vaccine. Speedway Village will also hold Friday’s clinic for residents ages 65 and older.

LLCHD is also partnering with cultural community centers to administer the vaccine to minority groups eligible for the shot. Just this morning, LLCHD worked with the Asian Community and Cultural Center to hold a small clinic for community members that they serve.

Today, LLCHD  announced 66 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the community total to 28,608.

The total number of deaths remains at 221. Lancaster county has gone ten days with no COVID deaths. Last week was the first full week of no reported deaths since late September.

More than 14,600 people have recovered from the virus, with more than 106,200 vaccines administered. Lancaster County is expected to receive a total of 8,200 doses this week.

This week’s positivity rate is unavailable at this time.

Twenty-five COVID patients are currently hospitalized (26 from Lancaster County). One patient is on a ventilator.

In Nebraska, a total of 19 variant cases have been reported today.
