LPD: 88-year-old Lincoln man deters would-be robber

Authorities say an elderly man deterred a would-be robber who pulled a knife on him.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Authorities say an elderly man deterred a would-be robber who pulled a knife on him.

Lincoln police say officers responded Monday morning to a home near 52nd and Hwy 2. on reports of a robbery.

An 81-year-old woman reported a man knocked at her door, told her he was with an organization and asked for a $2 donation.

Police say the woman gave the man $2 and he began walking away.

As the suspect was walking away, the woman’s 88-year-old husband arrived home and the suspect reportedly pulled a knife and threatened him.

The 88-year-old told the suspect he is a concealed carry permit holder and the suspect left the scene, police said.

Police say it’s unknown what organization the suspect claimed to be with. They say it’s possible the suspect visited other homes in the area.

Police are still investigating.
