LPD: Four arrested after breaking into several cars in northeast Lincoln
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Four people were arrested early Saturday morning after police say they were breaking into several cars in northeast Lincoln.
Around 5:30 a.m., officers were sent to the area of Cedar Cove Road and North 91st Street.
It was reported that two people were breaking into vehicles and a black Ford F-250 with no headlights on was following them.
When officers arrived, the pickup drove off, ignoring several officer attempts to stop it, the Lincoln Police Department said.
According to LPD, three vehicles in the neighborhood were broken in to.
Officers later found the pickup still running with flat tires in the area of North 59th Street and Aylesworth Avenue, about three miles away.
According to LPD, they were told the pickup, and three firearms inside the vehicle, were stolen.
During a search of the area, officers saw two males running from a backyard, and took them both into custody.
A 14-year-old male was lodged in the Youth Services Center on suspicion of theft of $5,000 or more, failure to obey a lawful order and attempt of theft by unlawful taking.
Jace Harper, 18, was lodged in the Lancaster County Jail on suspicion of the same charges.
Officers then found two more individuals leaving a shed in a nearby backyard and they were arrested.
According to LPD, Alcohol and a handgun were found in a backpack in their possession, and marijuana was found inside the shed.
Owen Kazena, 19, and 20-year-old Wyatt Novak were lodged in the Lancaster County Jail on suspicion of possession of a stolen firearm.
Both were also cited and released for possession of marijuana, minor in possession and criminal trespassing.
