LPD issues alert to shoppers after purse thefts at grocery stores

Authorities are alerting customers to be on the lookout for thieves after several purses were snatched at Lincoln grocery stores.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Authorities are alerting shoppers to be on the lookout for thieves after several purses were snatched at Lincoln grocery stores.

Lincoln police say a woman received six citations for theft after allegeldy grabbing purses and wallets out of shopping carts while the owners weren’t looking.

Police say the woman was seen on surveillance video taking the purses back to customer service, sometimes after taking items from them or making purchases.

The incidents happened at multiple Super Saver and Hy-Vee stores across the city, as well as the Walmart on N. 85th St. and Target on N. 48th St.

Police say these kinds of thefts are are more common during the holiday season because more people are out shopping.
