A Lincoln man is facing first-degree assault charges after allegedly stabbing his roommate in the neck.

Lincoln police officers responded Saturday night to a residence near 10th and Garfield on reports of a stabbing. When they arrived, they found a 34-year-old man with a stab wound to his neck.

Police say 43-year-old Jodi Horwart was upset with his roommates and came at them with the knife.

Police said Horwart was trying to hide a bloody knife inside a suitcase when officers found him. He was arrested for first-degree assault, use of a weapon to commit a felony, and possession of a deadly weapon by prohibited person.

The victim suffered life-threatening injuries that required immediate surgery, police said. An update on his condition was not immediately available Monday morning.
