LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A woman is accused of throwing herself out of her wheelchair and attacking a Lincoln police officer.

The woman, identified by police as 40-year-old Kimberly Kennedy, had called officers to her home to report a trespassing.

Kennedy told officers several people she had let stay with her left two dogs at her apartment and that she couldn’t contact them to pick them up, police said.

While waiting for Animal Control to respond, the officers discovered Kennedy had outstanding warrants.

When the officers tried to arrest her, Kennedy allegedly rammed her wheelchair into an officer’s leg causing him to fall and injure his arm.

Police say Kennedy then threw herself onto the officer and struggled with officers for six to seven minutes before she was taken into custody.

One officer was treated for a deep-tissue bruise on his arm.

Police say none of their reports show Kennedy was injured.

Kennedy was arrested for her warrants as well as third-degree assault of an officer.
