LPS bus catches fire

A close call at the Lincoln Public Schools’ bus barn.
A bus started on fire.
It started around 7 o’clock Thursday evening at the location on Park Boulevard, which is just west of 10th and South streets.
Some workers were inspecting buses and changing oil, when they noticed one had caught on fire.
Firefighters say they were lucky to catch it so soon!
“They saved the buses that were sitting next to that bus, and moved them out of the way. Then used fire extinguishers and were able to extinguish the fire before it spread to other vehicles,” says Captain Dan Jones, Lincoln Fire and Rescue.
The bus had been shut off for an hour an half before it started on fire.
Workers say it appears it may have been an electrical fire.
No word on a damage amount.
