LPS: Four principals, three administrators announce retirement plans
LPS congratulates all of the administrators and thanks them for their service to students and families.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Four Lincoln Public School principals and three administrators have announced their plans to retire at the end of the 2021-2022 school year.

Building Principals
Principal at Pound Middle School, Chris Deibler, announced his plans to retire. Deibler began his LPS career in 1986 as a physical education, health and science teacher at Lefler Middle School. In 1994, Deibler became the associate principal at Lefler and served there until 1997. Deibler then accepted the principal position at Pound Middle School and spent the next 25 years there.
Principal at Holmes Elementary School, Tim Muggy, announced his plans to retire. LPS hired Muggy in 1981 and he served in a variety of roles across numerous schools. Muggy began as a physical education teacher at Lakeview and Yankee Hill before teaching sixth grade at Cavett. Muggy served as the principal at Brownell, Meadow Lane and Roper before becoming the principal at Holmes in 2019.
Principal at Kahoa Elementary School, Teri Nelson, announced her plans to retire. Nelson began her career at LPS in 1991 as a school psychologist. Nelson served multiple elementary schools during this time. After serving as Maxey’s school psychologist and coordinator, she became the assistant principal at Kooser. Nelson then began serving her role as principal at Kahoa in 2015.
Principal at Wysong Elementary School, Randy Oltman, announced his plans to retire. Oltman spent his 32-year education career with LPS, starting as a teacher at Fredstrom in 1990. Oltman worked at Humann as a teacher, team leader and coordinator before becoming the assistant principal. After serving eight years as Humann’s principal, he became the principal of Wyson when it opened in 2016.
District Administrators
Director of secondary education, Pat Hunter-Pirtle, announced his plans to retire. Pirtle started as a teacher in 1978 at Mickle Middle School before teaching at schools in Houston and Omaha. Eventually, Pirtle returned to teach at Lincoln Southeast High School for seven years, then served as assistant principal at the school for eight years. In 2012, Pirtle became the LPS director of secondary education.
Director of student services, Russ Uhing, announced his plans to retire. Uhing began his LPS career in 1991 at Lincoln High School and served as a teacher, instructional coordinator, boys basketball coach and associate principal. Uhing became the LPS director of student services in 2011.
Supervisor of elementary personnel services, Vicki Schulenberg, announced her plans to retire. LPS hired Schulenberg in 1982 as a first-grade teacher at West Lincoln Elementary School. In 1983, Schulenberg moved to Fredstrom Elementary School and taught first grade, second grade and kindergarten for five years. Schulenberg then became principal at Fredstrom before becoming the LPS human resources supervisor for elementary personnel.
