LPS mentor arrested in child pornography case

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Lincoln Public Schools mentor was arrested Wednesday in a child exploitation investigation.

Authorities searched the south Lincoln home of Joseph Maciarz Jr., 61, and found “numerous items of child pornography,” according to the Nebraska State Patrol.

They arrested him on suspicion of possession and distribution of child pornography and took him to the Lancaster County Jail.

LPS said that as of Wednesday, Maciarz was no longer a mentor in the district.

Spokeswoman Mindy Burbach said the case does not involve any LPS students, as far as the district has been made aware.
