LPS will no longer require masks inside buildings

Masks will still be required on school buses.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Public Schools will no longer be requiring masks inside their buildings starting Saturday.

This news comes after Health Director Pat Lopez announced that the mask mandate will be ending early.  The updated 2021-22 LPS Safe Return to School Plan will now match the recent announcement.

LPS will now recommend masks for everyone inside buildings when physical distance cannot be maintained, according to an email sent to parents.  It will adjust masking protocols as necessary to address changing conditions.

LPS says buses will still require face coverings for all students and staff because of the U.S. Department of Transportation requirement.

Visitors and volunteers will now be allowed inside the school, but not into the cafeteria during meal times, according to LPS.
