LSO captain announces retirement after more than 3 decades of service
The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office announced the retirement of Captain Tom Brookhouser on Wednesday after a career that spanned 32 years.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office announced the retirement of Captain Tom Brookhouser on Wednesday after a career that spanned 32 years.
Since beginning his career in 1990, Brookhouser served several departments of LSO, including narcotics investigator and criminal investigator as a deputy. In 1997, he was promoted to Sergeant where he was a part of a metro fugitive tasks force.
In June of 2013, he was named Captain.
While with LSO, Brookhouser was involved in numerous specialty units including honor guard coordinator, defensive tactics instructor and bike patrol unit coordinator.
In 2014, captain Brookhouser was the recipient of the Sheriff’s Office Gallantry Star Award for his bravery in an officer involved shooting incident.
Captain Brookhouser attended the FBI National Academy Session 275 in Quantico, Va., in 2019 and has been an active member in the FBI National Academy Association since then.
In a press release, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office said it, “is happy for Captain Brookhouser and wish him the best in his retirement.”
