LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office said an investigation into a video showing a man kicking a dog will not result in a citation.

The incident in question happened Wednesday in the parking lot of DE Guns east of Lincoln, according to LSO.

The video, obtained by Channel 8 Eyewitness News, shows a man (who is not an employee of DEGuns) in the parking lot near a pickup truck. It then appears to show the man kick the dog.

Contacted by phone, the dog’s owner told Channel 8 Eyewitness News he kicked the animal because it “was acting like a total a–hole.”

“I’m not saying it was right,” he told Channel 8 Eyewitness News.

The owner said his family has been “harassed” since the video was shared online. He declined an on-camera interview.

LSO said in a news release the deputy assigned to the case spoke with the owner who explained 80 lb. pit bull “is an alpha male, and sometimes requires physical discipline,” and would not obey his commands.

The deputy did not observe any injuries to the dog, according to LSO.

“We do not believe the actions of the owner of the pit bull meet the statutory requirements to be able to cite him,” the release said.

DEGuns employee Trayten Grubb went outside to confront the man.

“Very colorfully he told me it was his property and he can do what he wants,” Grubb said. “It was the most disgusting thing I have ever seen.”
