LSO receives $1.2 million grant for technology upgrades

LANCASTER COUNTY, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office has received a federal grant totaling $1.2 million.

The grant will fund replacing the body-worn camera system and providing updated technology.

“This is an important investment in public safety and in the equipment our deputies depend on every day,” Chief Deputy Ben Houchin, said. “Reliable radios and body-worn cameras are critical to officer safety, communication, accountability and the collection of evidence. This funding allows us to replace aging equipment, improve our capabilities and do it without putting the full cost on local taxpayers.”

According to LSO, the grant will provide 100 new body-worn camera systems. The new technology will help LSO’s radio system.

The project will begin this fall.
