Major house fire in Davey

Home is determined a total loss with an estimated $40,000 loss to the home and $75,000 loss to the contents of the home.

DAVEY, Neb. (KLKN) -UPDATE:  According to officials, an estimation of the total loss from the fire is $115,000, several motorcycles were also burned in the fire.

There were no injuries and officials are unsure about the cause of the fire.


UPDATE: When crews arrived, crews were unable to safely enter, attack the fire from inside, or initiate a search.

According to Raymond Fire and Rescue Fire Chief, Nick Monnier, the inside of the home was in “hoarding conditions” which helped fuel the fire.

In addition to the home being fully engulfed, a boat in the yard caught on fire, and a neighboring structure had some heat damage.

Embers from the home caused a small brush and grass fire across the street.

As of 1:50 p.m., the majority of the fire was out and no flames were visible.

Crews are still attempting to make contact with the homeowner, who was allegedly driving around town.  The homeowner’s dog is also missing.

The home was deemed a total loss, the value of the home has not yet been determined.

The State Fire Marshall is still investigating the cause of the fire.


A reporter is on the scene of a large house fire at 3rd and Elm Street in Davey, Neb.

The fire was initially called in at 11:34 a.m. this morning, units from Valparaiso, Valparaiso Brush Unit, Malcolm, Raymond, Lincoln Fire and Rescue, Cresco, and US AIR Guard are on the scene.

According to Channel 8’s Anthony D’Agostino, black Smoke can be seen from 10 miles away.
