Man arrested for attempted murder of woman in York

Authorities are investigating an attempted murder that occurred Wednesday evening in York.

The Nebraska State Patrol said York police responded around 7:30 p.m. to a home where they heard screaming coming from inside.

An officer entered the home and saw a man appearing to strangle a woman, the patrol said.

The officer pulled the man off the woman and saw the woman had been stabbed multiple times, the patrol said.

Paramedics arrived on the scene shortly after and began treating the woman’s injuries, which are considered life threatening. She remained hospitalized Thursday afternoon.

The man, identified as 60-year-old Mario Reyes, was lodged in York County Jail on charges of attempted murder, strangulation and domestic assault.

Investigators with the York Police Department and the Nebraska State Patrol are investigating an attempted murder that occurred Wednesday evening.

The investigation remains ongoing.
