Man caught stealing gas from Lincoln construction company, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A burglar was caught red-handed as he tried stealing gas from a local construction company, Lincoln Police say.

Officers were called to Walton Construction near 48th Street and Doris Bair Circle early Monday morning.

The owner told police his security system caught movement by the fuel pumps.

When officers arrived, they found 48-year-old Toby Leiting at the site. After a short foot chase, Leiting was taken into custody.

Police say Leiting was trying to steal 35 gallons of gas from the site.

Leiting was driving a Ford F-150 with an attached trailer, which was reported stolen in October.

He was arrested on suspicion of theft by receiving, possession of burglar’s tools and driving during revocation.
