Man found dead inside crashed vehicle in rural southeast Nebraska creek
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A man is dead after his vehicle crashed into a creek embankment last week, according to the Gage County Sheriff’s Office.
The agency said it received a missing person report at 8:40 a.m. Thursday, saying 40-year-old Librado Lopez III of Cortland did not come home the night before.
Family members found Lopez inside his car later Thursday.
The sheriff’s office said the vehicle was in a creek embankment along West Chestnut Road between Southwest 100th and Southwest 86th roads. That’s just east of the town of Dewitt.
Lopez was pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff’s office said Lopez had been traveling east on Chestnut when his vehicle went off the road and hit the embankment.
Lopez wasn’t wearing a seat belt.
The crash remains under investigation.
