Man found guilty in southeast Nebraska child abuse case

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A southeast Nebraska man took a plea deal Thursday in a child abuse case.
Brandon Myers of Fairbury pleaded no contest to intentional child abuse without injury and third-degree sexual assault without consent.
The latter charge was reduced from third-degree sexual assault of a child under the plea agreement.
Prosecutors also dropped a count of third-degree assault.

Court documents say Myers, 41, physically and sexually abused a child for more than two years.
Myers was arrested in early May 2024, and since he was an employee of the Jefferson County Jail, he was placed in the Thayer County Jail.
Authorities arrested his wife, Bobbi Myers, a few days later.
She was accused of physically abusing a child and of trying to silence her husband’s victim.

The wife, 45, was convicted in November after a plea deal reduced both her charges to misdemeanors.
She was released from jail in March after serving 73 days of a 180-day sentence.
The husband will be sentenced on Sept. 4.
