LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Lincoln man was sentenced to federal prison Thursday for his role in a meth ring.

Kyle Kumpula, 41, got three years and 10 months for conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine.

U.S. District Judge Susan Bazis also sentenced him to two years of post-prison supervised release, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Police said Kumpula, Carlos Hernandez and Amy Hicks were selling meth out of a home near 40th and South streets.

In April and May, a law enforcement informant bought meth multiple times from Kumpula and one of his co-conspirators, authorities said.

On May 6, investigators carried out a no-knock search warrant at the home, using a ram to get inside.

Authorities said they found about 21.75 ounces of meth throughout the house.

Kumpula arrived during the bust, and police found another half-ounce of meth on him.

He admitted to selling meth for about two months and said he had about five customers, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Hernandez’s case is working its way through federal court.

Hicks is expected to plead guilty on Feb. 12, according to court documents.
