Man killed when ejected from vehicle near North Platte, sheriff’s office says

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was killed Thursday after he was ejected from a vehicle near North Platte, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office says.
Around 5 p.m., deputies were sent out to a single-vehicle crash on North Lake Road, near a camping area at Lake Maloney.
When first responders arrived, the driver – 26-year-old Jeffery Howell of North Platte – was pronounced dead.
The sheriff’s office thinks Howell was heading west on North Lake Road “at a high rate of speed,” when he left the road after trying to turn around a corner.
Howell overcorrected, slid across the road and struck a tree. He was then ejected from the vehicle, the sheriff’s office says.
Howell was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the sheriff’s office.
