One dead after crashing into cow, tree in Saunders County, sheriff’s office says

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A person was killed early Friday morning after a crash with a cow caused their vehicle to hit a tree, the Saunders County Sheriff’s Office says.
Around 5:15 a.m., deputies were called out to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 79 near County Road E, just north of Valparaiso.
After an investigation, the sheriff’s office discovered that the driver was heading north on Highway 79 when they struck a cow in the road.
The vehicle then left the road and crashed into a tree, according to the sheriff’s office. The driver was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim has not yet been identified.
