Man sentenced for gunfight outside Lincoln apartment complex

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Lincoln man was sent to prison on Wednesday for shooting two people last year.

Tramel Patterson, 37, was sentenced to 20 to 30 years behind bars for two counts of second-degree assault.

He received credit for about 1½ years already spent in custody and could be eligible for parole in 8½ years.

The shooting happened just before 3 a.m. on April 16, 2023, according to court documents.

Just before 3 a.m. on April 16, 2023, Patterson started a gunfight near 14th and Adams streets, according to court documents.

He opened fire in the parking lot of an apartment complex, an arrest affidavit says, hitting a man and a woman.

Police said the man who was shot, Adrian Lott, fired back and struck Patterson.

Investigators found 29 shell casings at the scene, according to court documents.

Patterson, Lott and the woman each suffered two gunshot wounds.

Police said they took their own vehicles to Bryan West Medical Center, and all survived.

Last month, some charges against Patterson were dropped under a plea deal.

Lott is charged with second-degree assault, use of a firearm to commit a felony and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

He is due back in court Thursday.
