Man shot in Gretna, suspect dies of self inflicted gunshot wound

News release:

The Sarpy County Sheriff’s office said a shooting occurred in the parking lot of an apartment complex located at 119 E Westplains Road at 8:00 A.M. this morning.   According to the department, A 50 year old male, while in his vehicle, was shot 2-3 times.  He then drove himself to the Gretna Fire Station at 204th Street and Hwy 370. He was transported by ambulance to the Bergan Mercy Trauma Center in serious condition.

The suspect, a 52 year old male, was eventually located at his apartment at 20184 Glenmore Drive. When contact was made with the suspect, it was

discovered that he had suffered from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The suspect was transported to Midlands Hospital where he was pronounced

deceased.

The incident is still under investigation. The names of those involved will not be released at this time.
