Man shot multiple times in a McDonald’s parking lot, according to Lincoln Police
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln Police say a man was shot multiple times in a McDonald’s parking lot Monday morning.
The shooting was reported at the location near 48th and Vine Streets just after 3:30 a.m.
Officers found a 20-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds near the drive-thru.
He was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
Police say they’re following multiple leads and conducting several interviews, but no one has been taken into custody.
Authorities think that this was a targeted attack and that there is no ongoing threat in the area.
Businesses in the area commented on the shooting, with some saying they feel Lincoln is becoming less safe.
“It’s getting crazy out here,” said an owner of one nearby business. He said it wasn’t like this when he moved here 20 years ago.
An employee at a nearby store was surprised to hear about the shooting because she’s been following all of the shootings and killings in recent weeks on the news.
“You can’t even go anywhere without thinking about being cautious,” she said.
That employee said she often takes the bus to get around town but doesn’t feel as safe after the recent deaths and a stabbing that happened at a bus stop downtown.
“I’m afraid to go anywhere,” the woman said.
Another store owner said he always thought Lincoln was a “pretty safe place,” and a good place to raise children. He said these things usually happen “in the night,” so he isn’t too worried about the shooting.
The McDonald’s was closed after the shooting but reopened later in the morning. Traffic in the area was not impacted.
