UPDATE: Suspect in custody, one in critical condition after downtown Lincoln stabbing
Police are asking people to avoid the area of 10th and P Streets
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lincoln Police Department is investigating a stabbing that occurred Friday morning at 11th and ‘N’ Street.
Around 9:30 a.m., officers responded to a call of a stabbing. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered a 37-year-old Lincoln man with serious injuries.
The victim was taken to a local hospital and remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
The Nebraska State Patrol brought in a helicopter and found the suspect, 29-year-old Hser Htoo of Lincoln, who was arrested.
The men had an argument while riding the bus, police say.
They were kicked off the bus near the bus stop at 11th and N Streets and upon exiting the bus, continued their disagreement.
Witnesses say Htoo then pulled out a knife, stabbed the victim and left the area.
Htoo was lodged in jail on suspicion of first-degree assault and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
The Lincoln Police Department Crime Scene Unit has completed its investigation at the scene, and the area is now open for normal traffic flow.
