Many severe weather days ahead
A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH is in place for counties along and near the Kansas/Nebraska border through 6:00am Thursday.
Large hail and damaging wind will be possible.
Strong to severe storms will be possible over the next few days. When we’re not seeing severe weather, weaker storms will be possible on and off with temperatures close to normal over the next several days.
There is a level 1 and 2 risk for severe weather overnight. The level 2 “Slight Risk” exists from North Platte to Lincoln and areas south. The level 1 “Marginal Risk” is the area shaded in green.
Above is what our StormCast weather model is showing for strong to severe storms tonight into early Thursday. This is mainly a strong wind event with the better chance for hail and tornadoes further south.
There is a chance for an isolated tornado, but it’s mainly for south central and SE Nebraska into Kansas. The better chance shows up in OK and TX.
Large hail is a possibility, with 1″ diameter hail most likely for severe hail.
Damaging wind will also be possible. Wind gusts in excess of 60 mph are most likely.
On Thursday, we could see more severe storms into the evening hours for SE Nebraska. The better chance will be further east.
Friday has the potential for severe weather, as well. That will be the 4th day in a row with the chance for severe storms.
