Mask mandate returns for city employees in Lincoln
The requirement goes into effect right away as cases continue to rise across Lancaster County
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A mask mandate is back in effect for city employees in Lincoln, following a rise in COVID-19 cases across Lancaster County.
The mayor’s office tells Channel 8 that this impacts anyone working closely with co-workers and members of the public, regardless of vaccination status.
Employees attending meetings will also be required to mask up.
At Monday’s City Council meeting, there was no mention of the mandate, or of COVID-19.
Some council members did not wear a mask.
Just last week, Lancaster County’s COVID-19 risk dial rose to orange, after spending five weeks in elevated yellow.
Health officials said the decision was made due to not only an increase in infections but also hospitalizations.
