Mask mandate to begin in Grand Island

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KHGI) — On Tuesday, Grand Island joins Hastings and York in passing a mask mandate.
The Grand Island City Council voted 8-2 in favor of the emergency ordinance after hearing from several speakers in support of the mandate.
Grand Island Fire Chief Cory Schmidt was one such speaker, stating that “without a change we will become overwhelmed.”
The mask mandate begins this Friday, following Thanksgiving. mask mandate that takes effect on Friday.
