Missing inmate likely facing more time behind bars following arrest

Authorities spent nearly a month looking for him

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – An inmate who left the Community Corrections Center – Lincoln on Jan. 4 was found yesterday by Omaha police officers.

Christian Crawford was serving a six to ten year sentence.  Community custody is the lowest level of security, and inmates are allowed to participate in work opportunities, attend school and religious services with prior approval and without direct supervision.

Crawford had started his sentence in 2018 and his tentative release date was in July 2023.  Now, he is facing new charges that include criminal impersonation and obstructing a peace officer.  He had previously been charged with multiple counts of robbery and tampering with evidence.

He now remains in custody at the Douglas County Correctional Center.
