Lincoln mobile home catches fire, displacing multiple families

Flames torched a trailer just off of Cornhusker highway near 40th St. early Thursday morning, forcing a family out of their home.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Flames torched a trailer just off of Cornhusker highway near 40th St. in Lincoln early Thursday morning, forcing multiple families out of their homes. Also, three cats and one dog were saved from the blaze.

Lincoln Fire and Rescue tells us it happened just before 2:00 a.m. on Thursday.

The home that initially caught fire had three residents, according to LFR. They were all able to escape. Fire officials also tell us the trailer next to the home had fire damage as well, and the family living in that trailer had to be evacuated as well.

LFR says the original fire was caused by electrical wiring near the front door of the trailer. Officials estimate around $25,000 total in damage.

The Red Cross is helping the family of three find a place to stay.
