MUCH cooler for an atypical July day in Nebraska
Take advantage and be sure to get outside a little longer today if you’re one who enjoys a good break from the summer heat.
Already many enjoying the cooler temperatures this morning by opening the windows overnight, walking the dog or maybe riding the bike a little longer.
We’ll experience much cooler temperatures throughout the day this Thursday. By noon, we are only expecting to warm to about 70°.
And high temperatures across southeast Nebraska will only be in the lower and middle 70s today!
That’s about 10-15 degrees cooler than the average temperature for mid-July. Usually, right now we’re closer to 90.
Storm chances do return by Friday, but largely for northern Nebraska. There will be a small, spotty chance with cloud cover to see a bit of rain closer to Lincoln during the day, but chances to see much measurable rain will be on the lower end.
A Marginal (Level 1 of 5) risk is in place for northern Nebraska with a small chance at an isolated tornado in northeast Nebraska and an overall risk for some hail and gusty winds.
But we know we can’t get used to this. July, sultry heat will return especially next week.
Many days will be in the middle and upper 90s with a heat index somewhere between 100-110° for those hotter days.
