NAPE ratifies new contract with the State of Nebraska, prioritizing employee benefits

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nebraska Association of Public Employees ratified a new contract with the State of Nebraska for 2025 to 2027.
The contract covers more than 8,000 employees at more than 40 state agencies in all 93 counties, and will run from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2027.

NAPE broke down the Highlights of the new contract in a press release on Monday:
- Salary increases over two years between 6.5% and 19% based on job classification with a satisfactory annual performance evaluation
- Minimum contract wage of $15 per hour
- Six weeks of paid maternity leave
- Multilingual premium pay for designated positions
- Catastrophic illness sick leave sharing program
- Higher NDOT and State Patrol overnight/weekend shift differentials
- Commercial Drivers License premium pay for certain NDOT employees
“Our members spoke loudly and clearly before negotiations began that in order to attract and retain state employees, salary increases had to outpace inflation and increased insurance costs,” said Justin Hubly, Executive Director of the union. “We believe this agreement is a step in the right direction toward that goal, and we appreciate the collaboration with the Governor’s team to reach this agreement which will benefit all Nebraskans.”
Vacancy rates at state agencies remain high, and union members prioritized negotiating benefits that would help attract new employees.
