NE Guard Getting First Woman General

More than 35 years after the Nebraska National Guard enlisted its first woman member, one of them will be wearing a general's stars.
Roma Amundson will become a brigadier general on Saturday. The 59-year-old from Walton will become assistant adjutant general. She'll be overseeing training, staffing and officer assignments.
Her boss, Adjutant General Timothy Kadavy, acknowledges that Amundson's promotion is a milestone.
But he also says she's the person “with the right leadership skills and the right capabilities being promoted to the right position that they've earned.''
Amundson's held several directorships for the state military department and has served in the Nebraska Guard for 31 years.
