LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – After trailing by nine in the second quarter, Nebraska then outscored Maryland 34-0 the rest of the way – starting with a game-changing 81-yard pick six by Dwayne McDougle – to race past Maryland 48-23 Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium.

Kwazi Gilmer and Mekhi Nelson both scored two touchdowns in front of the 414th consecutive sellout crowd.

Nebraska (5-0, 2-0 Big Ten) fell behind in the first quarter, allowing 13 unanswered points to the Terrapins (2-3, 0-2 Big Ten) offense after Mekhi Nelson scored on a 19-yard rush for Nebraska.

Nelson would continue to spark the offense going into the second, finding the endzone for the second time from 5-yards out. The junior running back finished the game with 53 all-purpose yards, and his two rushing touchdowns marking a season high.

Despite the Terrapins offense causing the Huskers some issues in the first half, Nebraska’s defense would stifle Maryland in the final two-plus quarters. Tight end Luke Lindenmeyer found the endzone before halftime, and wide receiver Kwazi Gilmer logged his two touchdowns late in the fourth to seal the Huskers win.

Anthony Colandrea continued his dominant stretch as one of the Big Ten’s most effective quarterbacks, throwing for 238 yards and three touchdowns. He also led the team in rushing with 108 yards.

Nebraska will remain at home next Saturday when it welcomes in defending national champion No. 6 Indiana to Memorial Stadium. Kickoff will be at 11 a.m.
