LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The East Central District Health Department reported a confirmed case of measles in Platte County on Tuesday.

In a press release, officials said the patient is an unvaccinated child who recently traveled to Arizona.

Health officials said people might have been exposed to measles at the following locations and times:

  • The Shell Creek Baptist Church in Columbus on Dec. 24 from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • Columbus Community Hospital’s emergency department on Dec. 29 from 2 a.m. to 6: 30 a.m.

Officials are urging people who may have been exposed to fill out a risk assessment survey.

The health department said measles symptoms include fever, runny nose, cough and rash.

Children under the age of five, adults over the age of 20, non-immune pregnant and immunocompromised people are at the greatest risk of developing “severe complications” from the disease, officials said.
