Nebraska men’s basketball hosts Special Olympics camp

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nebraska men’s basketball team hosted the inaugural Hoops with the Huskers Special Olympics camp on Tuesday at the Hendricks Training Complex.

The team joined Special Olympics athletes for a fun afternoon full of shooting, drills and one-on-one competition with their favorite players.

The idea of the camp came from Husker senior Derrick Walker, who’s been at the helm of much of the community work the team’s done this summer.

“For all of us, we just recognize that the community has our backs,” he said. “So for us to have their back and just get out into the community and just have fun with them and put a face to the name … it means the world.”
