LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska State Treasurer Tom Briese announced a new website Monday that tracks every penny spent by the state.

StateSpending.Nebraska.gov gives Nebraskans an easy method to see how the State of Nebraska spends and receives funds.

The site is designed to allow users to select an item and look further into why the state is spending money on that specific item or why it is receiving money from that specific agency.

“On Nebraska’s State Capitol building is the inscription ‘The Salvation of the State is the Watchfulness in the Citizen’ and I couldn’t agree more,” Briese said in a press release. “Public officials have the duty to show the public how tax dollars are spent and to answer for every cent. This revamped website will allow Nebraskans a quick, easy, and user-friendly way to keep a watchful eye on state spending.”

The Treasurer’s Office is responsible for the tracking disbursing of all state funds, which includes recording transactions and informing the Legislature through a yearly report on the State’s financial status.
