Nominations open for University of Nebraska’s Presidential Medal of Service award

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Nominations are now open for this year’s Presidential Medal of Service award.

The award celebrates those who have made significant contributions to supporting the university and promoting the role that higher education plays in growing the state.

University of Nebraska President Ted Carter said Tuesday that nominations are due by Nov. 4.

“The University of Nebraska exists to provide affordable, accessible education that transforms students’ lives and grows our state,” Carter said in a press release. “So many Nebraskans work together to make that happen. This award gives us an annual opportunity to publicly say thank-you for their support and advocacy for our students – the future leaders of our state.”

Carter will select a winner at a future event.

University and NU Foundation employees, elected officials and candidates are not eligible for the award, the university said.

Community members should submit nominations via an online form, available here.
