Norfolk man cited for DUI after driving with no tires on the right side of his car

NORFOLK, Neb. (KLKN) — Around 5:15 p.m. on Aug. 23, a Norfolk Police officer witnessed a Honda Accord traveling while dragging car parts on the roadway. The Honda appeared to have sustained recent damage.

The officer caught up to the vehicle and initiated contact with the driver after the vehicle pulled into a parking lot. During the stop, officers discovered that the vehicle had no tires on the right side.

A records check showed that the driver, Hector Hernandez, 24, of Norfolk, had a suspended license. Hernandez was taken into custody.

Officers at the scene detected signs of alcohol like smell, slurred speech and glassy eyes. Hernandez confessed to consuming alcohol prior to driving.

A preliminary breath test indicated Hernandez had a breath alcohol concentration of .211. His record showed a previous driving under the influence conviction.

Hernandez was booked into the Norfolk City Jail for driving under suspension and driving under the influence of alcohol. He was released after posting bond.
