Norfolk woman charged with child abuse after hitting man with skillet lid

NORFOLK, Neb. (KLKN) — The Norfolk Police Division (NPD) arrested a woman after reports of a domestic assault.

NPD officers were dispatched to a local hospital around 2 a.m. on Oct. 27. The male victim reported that he had been struck in the head with a skillet lid.

The victim had a large laceration that required medical treatment, according to NPD.

The victim identified the suspect as Hailey Johnson, 25, of Norfolk.

Officers responded to the residence the victim had said the incident occurred at. They observed broken glass and blood at the entrance.

Officers then entered the home to enact a welfare check of a 2-year-old and 9-year-old. They interviewed Johnson and a witness about the incident. They also found evidence of alcohol and suspected drug-related items inside the residence.

The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services was contacted for the children.

Johnson was arrested and lodged for second-degree assault, use of a weapon to commit a felony, tampering with physical evidence and child abuse.
