A Norris student has been cited for assault after allegedly tackling and punching a school administrator.

Lancaster County Sheriff Terry Wagner said the 17-year-old male student was reportedly driving recklessly in the school parking lot Tuesday morning when the school’s assistant superintendent approached the vehicle.
After the staff member tapped the student’s window, the student got out of the car, tackled, and then began punching him, Wagner said. The staff member had to seek medical care for injuries.

The student, who has not been identified, was cited for third-degree assault, Wagner.

In a letter sent to parents Tuesday, Norris Superintendent John Schwartz said some students later expressed concerns after a basketball game about subsequent social media activity regarding the incident. The students mentioned a reported threat being made against the school.
Schwartz said the school would have additional law enforcement present on campus for “peace of mind.”
