LINCOLN – The Nebraska Schools Activities Association voted 7-1 on Thursday to add girls wrestling as an emerging sport over the next three years.
This approval allows girls to participate in their school’s wrestling programs and in the emerging girls programs. There will not be a separate state tournament for the girls, though the NSAA could add one over the three year period.
The sport will not be a fully sanctioned sport this year after the NSAA’s Representative Assemble voted against it.
