NORFOLK, Neb. (KLKN) — Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) took a 13-year-old girl into custody following a vehicle pursuit in Platte County.

Around 11 Wednesday night, a trooper noted a Jeep Wrangler traveling without its lights on Highway 81, just south of Madison.

A short time later the trooper learned the vehicle had been stolen and initiated pursuit.

According to NSP, the Jeep drove erratically between 80 and 110 mph as it moved southbound.

Concerned about public safety, the trooper stopped pursuit near Columbus.

However, NSP would soon hear of a 911 call about the Jeep being disabled at a motel in Humphrey.

Once on scene, the trooper spoke with the teen driver, who attempted to punch them in the face multiple times.

The 13-year-old was taken into custody on multiple charges, including felony flight to avoid arrest and assaulting an officer.
