NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KLKN) — Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) have arrested a California man after finding a missing child from Maine.

The pair were located at a rest area near Brady. A missing person alert had been issued earlier for the 15-year-old girl in Maine.

On Tuesday, NSP got a tip from the Lewiston Police Department in Maine that the child might be traveling with another person through Nebraska.

While on high alert, troopers spotted the suspect’s vehicle, a Ford Mustang, at the rest area off I-80.

The male, 23-year-old Taylor Hauke of California was arrested for child abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The child is in the process of returning to Maine.

The investigation is ongoing.
